You might have caught a glimpse of Mission Viejo’s own TV station, MVTV on Channel 30 while flipping through channels, but the station is home to much more than City Council meetings.
In fact, according to the City of Mission Viejo Web site, MVTV has been “recognized for excellence in several areas by the California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO), the Southern California and Nevada National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (SCAN/NATOA), Beacon Awards and the Telly Awards. Specifically named were the MVTV programs Storytime Theatre, MVTV News, City Talk, State of the City Address, and the Community Bulletin Board.”
The station broadcasts from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven days a week and is filmed exclusively in Mission Viejo.
For the show, MVTV News, did you know that its crew reports on City accomplishments and covers special community events such as the Annual Walk Against Drugs, Santa’s arrival, Tierra Nativa, Bunny Days, and the Fourth of July Street Faire and Fireworks Spectacular? The local news digest is broadcast daily at 7:00 p.m. (except on City Council meeting Mondays). MVTV News has received recognition with numerous national Telly Awards and video excellence awards from CAPIO and SCAN/NATOA.
Another popular program is Storytime Theatre, which is recorded at the Mission Viejo Library during family storytime and at professional story telling performances throughout the county. Storytime Theatre is MVTV’s only national Silver Telly Award winning show that has also received a bronze Telly and statewide recognition from CAPIO, according to the City Web site.
Another program that attracts viewers is Animal House, which is filmed on location at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center. This show, which features dogs and cats that are available for adoption, is broadcast daily at 7:30 p.m. (except on City Council meeting Mondays).
