Linkin Park drummer, Rob Bourdon, is a Coto resident. |
We all know by now that many of the original Real Housewives of Orange County were Coto De Caza residents, but did you know that they aren’t the only famous notables from this unincorporated community?
There are quite a few others including:
Peter Vidmar considered to be the highest scoring American gymnast in Olympic history. While he is a speaker now, he finished his successful career at the 1984 Olympic Games. As the USA men's gymnastics team captain, he led his teammates to America's first team Gold medal with a victory over the defending world champions, the People's Republic of China. He went on to win the Silver medal in the individual all-around competition (the first American to have ever won an Olympic All-Around medal), and with a perfect score of 10, he captured the Gold medal on the pommel horse. He has also been a gymnastics commentator for CBS Sports and ESPN and continues to work as a journalist or broadcaster at each Summer Olympics. He was appointed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to serve as Vice Chair of the California Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness & Sports for the State of California
Then, there is the drummer from the band Linkin Park, Rob Bourdon and his bandmate, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell the bassist. The band was formed in 2006 in Agoura Hills and has sold more than 50 million albums and earned two Grammy Awards.
Don’t forget about these notable athletes such as Teemu Selanne, the professional Finnish ice hockey player and Stanley Cup Champion or Michael Chang, the former French Open singles champion who won the title at age 17.
Also on the list of Coto notables is Rod Carew, the baseball Hall of Famer, Gen. William Lyon, founder of Newport Beach-based William Lyon Homes Inc., and Paul Folino, chairman of Costa Mesa's Emulex Corp., and Taco Bell Corp. Chief Executive Greg Creed.
