Bernstein will showcase her talent at this year's Taste. |
Step aside Howard Stern, Janeane Bernstein who hosts the weekly radio show Momz Rock the House that is broadcast live from KUCI 88.9 FM in Orange County, and features mom rockers, solo artists and other talented women who rock the arts, is coming to this year’s “Annual Taste of Ladera.”
Bernstein will serve as the emcee on Sunday, May 1 at Founder’s Park and reports that she can’t wait to participate in the popular event.
“I am really excited about emceeing the second day of Taste of Ladera, and being one of the judges for The Taste of Ladera's talent show, The OC's ‘Bet You Can't Do That! Talent Show. The talent in Orange County is going to be so diverse and extraordinary and we are really excited about opening it up to all of Orange County. The event was a blast last year, but being able to come back and host the day, plus emcee the talent show portion of the day is way cool,” she says.
Adding to her job as busy radio host, mother and a major multi-tasker, Bernstein also does voice-over work and produces and hosts music events around the OC such as Mamapalooza, as well as Momz Rock the House music events.
She’s been doing voice-over work for quite a while now and loves it.
“I had a project in graduate school where I had to narrate a health education program for kids and I started fooling around with voices. And then when I worked at HP in Boston, doing some freelance work, I designed and developed an interactive course that no one wanted to narrate, so I had to do it by default,” she says. “I soon became the on-camera narrator, too.”
Along the way, she has voiced numerous commercials and projects, from a character voice in the Nintendo DS game, Littlest Pet Shop to commercials for Babies R' Us, Balboa Bay Club and Resort and several other clients throughout the United States. She has also voiced an educational television show for children, and was the KUCI 88.9 FM DJ for 3 years.
“I love producing my radio show and creating this complete segment about an artist, filling it in with great music and conversation and making it engaging and interesting to tune in,” she says. “I also love including my kids in the recording of my show promos and hearing how great they can be on the mic.”
Born in Connecticut, and raised in Manhattan, she has a BS in Education and Communications (TV, Radio, & Film) from the Newhouse School of Communications, at Syracuse University; an MS in Instructional Design and Development from Syracuse University; and an Ed.D. in Media and Technology from Boston University.
Bernstein is married with two children and says she likes to play the guitar and exercise in her spare time.
Looking ahead, Bernstein would like to be cast in an animated feature film, as one of the character voices.
“In 5 years, I hope to be producing, directing and having my show Momz Rock the House on more stations across the country,” she adds.
