The library recently underwent a six-week renovation.

It’s been gone for six weeks but now the RSM Library has officially re-opened after it closed down in January for renovations.

Residents will be happy  to see that their favorite programs such as story time, book discussion groups, public Internet access terminals, interlibrary loan service, adult and teen programming, cultural events and lectures, and services for the homebound, have all returned.

The place has gotten a facelift of sorts and now sports new paint, new carpet, new signage, self-checkout machines and a lowered circulation desk to comply with the American Disabilities Act.

The entire library is now user-friendly. A celebration to acknowledge the facility's revamped design as well as its 15th anniversary to honor the Friends of the Library, a group of volunteers that supports the library, will soon take place.

Since the library closed on January 11, residents have been using the Ladera Ranch, Lake Forest and Foothill Ranch branches. The RSM Library was built in 1994 and is part of the OC Public Library System that consists of 33 other branches throughout Orange County. The system-wide collection consists of more than 2.6 million volumes, featuring books, literacy materials, audio visual materials, downloadable eAudiobooks, large print and periodicals. Special collections include materials on Native American, African American, Asian American, and Hispanic American studies. Materials in languages other than English include Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish, and Persian.

The library system also houses many materials on California history, local history, literacy, and has an extensive collection of music scores.

So whether you need to study, catch up on your novel, or simply want a quiet place to seek solace, come check out the new and improved RSM library.
