The dimly lit dining area – perfect for viewing three more wall-mounted wide screens – seats enough for two sports teams, cheerleaders, boosters yet still have room to spare for locals to eat, drink, and be merry.

Michael’s meal deal is the thick and hearty minestrone soup, which is made fresh daily with fresh vegetables and eight different beans in a chicken broth: A bowl costs $4.50 – add pasta or a salad for $2.00 more.

Lunch crowds can choose from sandwiches and hoagies on freshly baked bread for less than $8.00 with the choice of pasta salad or fresh fruit (substitute minestrone or house salad for $1.50). Order a traditional Italian sub, turkey provolone, grilled eggplant, chicken or steak hoagie, turkey or chicken pesto, or one of a dozen more incredible sandwiches - including the famed hot meatball parmesan sub complete with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.

Dinner diners need to bring large appetites or be prepared pay Mama Mia a few lira ($2.50) for a split charge. Specialties are many and one is sure to be your favorite. Chicken parmigiana, veal picata, jumbo scampi, both regular and eggplant lasagna and nine different pastas dishes range from $12.00 to $18.00. Every main dish includes the minestrone soup or house salad, mostaccioli machiata and sauteed vegetables. Tout alors!

Scarantino’s also caters to the calorie conscious (i.e. substitutions welcome). All heavy creams and sauces are available on the side or request the crushed tomato, basil and olive oil dressing. Prompt friendly service in a clean, calm and comfortable environment just might remind you of home.
