Since 1882, the O’Neill/Avery/Moiso has owned RMV, LLC.

Rancho Mission Viejo, LLC is responsible for the ranching, farming, planning, development, and financial management of Rancho Mission Viejo. It is owned by the O’Neill/Avery/Moiso family and other non-family individuals. The Rancho Mission Viejo, LLC executive management team includes: Anthony R. Moiso, chief executive officer and president, Donald L. Vodra, chief operating officer, and Gilbert G. Aguirre, executive vice president ranch operations.

In November 2004, the O’Neill/Avery/Moiso family secured approval on its comprehensive land use management and open space preservation plan for the remaining 23,000 acres of Rancho Mission Viejo. Instead of following traditional methods, the family based its land planning process on environmental study programs conducted in partnership with the U.S. Dept. of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, California Dept. of Fish and Game, and the County of Orange.

The priority goals of the study program were to identify sensitive native habitat of threatened and endangered animals and to establish a foundation for programs to preserve and enhance wetlands, manage water run-off, and protect water quality in the San Juan and San Mateo creeks.

In 2007, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service added the Ranch’s open space to its 32,818-acre Habitat Conservation Plan known as the Southern Subregion Natural Community Conservation Plan/Habitat Conservation Plan (NCCP/HCP).

The study served as the “environmental blueprints” for The Ranch Plan, which seeks to achieve the following:

• Perpetuate the family’s historical ranching and farming practices;
• Preserve and manage about 17,000 acres of open space on Rancho Mission Viejo;
• Protect the local quality of life by managing growth through limited, thoughtful development.
