For Regional Manager, Premier Business Centers, Orange County and San Diego, RSM resident, Michelle Stiegler, enjoys being involved in the Junior League of Orange County.
The Junior League of Orange County, California, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
“I joined the Junior League of Los Angeles in 1997 and transferred ‘officially’ in 2001 after relocating to South Orange County in late 2000. I was immediately pleased with JLOCC as it was much smaller than the Junior League in LA. It was nice to meet great quality people and make an impact quickly,” she says.
The JLOCC has recently released its colorful cookbook called Orange County Fare: A Culinary Journey Through the California Riviera now available online at www.jlocc.org or visit the Web site for where the book can be purchased around the county.
Orange County Fare was recently nominated as an Award-Winning Finalist in the Cookbook category of the National Best Books 2009 Awards, sponsored by USA Book News. Stiegler helps with the JLOCC’s fundraising efforts, something she enjoys.
She spent several years on ‘The Christmas Company’ in several leadership positions. Later, she became involved with membership on Nominating Committee and a Membership Advisor.
“Last year, I was the Sales Chair for Orange County Fare. Working on Orange County Fare was a very rewarding experience. It was amazing to see the finished product in September after the last 18 months of preparation. The cover is gorgeous, and the other photos represent Orange County beautifully,” she says.
The recipes in the book are the perfect mixture of celebrities, local restaurants and JLOCC submitted recipes, she says. The process was a lengthy one as all Junior League friends and family submitted recipes that were triple-tested in three different kitchens and each were rated in a group setting. All selected recipes were in the highest category.
“As Sales Chair, we compiled a list of wholesale accounts and currently we have about 20 local retailers carrying the book in addition to direct sales through JLOCC members and sustainers,” she says.
Being involved in JLOCC has enhanced Stiegler’s life a lot.
“My parents were always involved with charity organizations, volunteering and into giving back to the community. I developed many leadership skills through JLOCC that I was able to translate into leading a large group of managers and team members within my job,” she says.
In the end, Stiegler says, “you will always get more when you give more in anything. Life is always more rewarding to give than to receive.”
Stiegler is married to Jason and they have a Golden Retriever, Maverick. She enjoys cooking, fine wine, entertaining with family and friends, Pilates and Zumba classes.Ever the one to keep busy, Stiegler says in 5 years she hopes to be an advocate of change.
