|Yes we can? More like no he can't.
I do not understand why Obama's administration is treating healthcare like it is the biggest problem in the world. I do not see healthcare as a major problem. It is A PROBLEM OF SUCCESS. We are living 10-15 years longer than our grandparents; this is SUCCESS. Of course it costs more. People are living longer and need to be treated, we have better drugs and treatments which cost more and lifestyle changes have helped also (i.e. fewer smokers except for Obama.)
If tax rates stayed the same and you paid more taxes this year than last year, this is A PROBLEM OF SUCCESS—you made more money. If you need a bigger house because you have more kids and more stuff, this is A PROBLEM OF SUCCESS.
Higher healthcare costs are A PROBLEM OF SUCCESS.
The quality of our healthcare is the best in the world and as you would expect is the most expensive. Of course there are inefficiencies in the system which can be improved, but it is not the biggest problem in America.
If Obama wants to make a big cut in healthcare costs, he should address the tort/malpractice problem. Of course he doesn't want to upset the trial lawyers. Many countries limit class action lawsuits and prohibit contingency fees. Also some have the loser in lawsuits pay the legal fees of the winner. Our system forces the doctors to over treat and over medicate to protect themselves from lawsuits. This is a huge cost to the healthcare system.
We are concerned about unemployment. We have lost millions of manufacturing jobs in America in the past two decades (i.e. auto industry), yet unemployment has remained stable over the years. How did this happen? The manufacturing jobs were replaced by service jobs. What is the biggest service industry—HEALTHCARE. I want more people working in healthcare so I can live to be 125 instead of 100.
We have 50 million uninsured people in the USA that Obama wants to cover. You don't have to have an MBA to understand this will make healthcare costs go up. Obama claims we will save more money by, among other things, reducing Medicare costs. I am retired on Medicare (fortunately I am 100% healthy now, but I won't always be). Obama wants to reduce Medicare costs, which means my benefits. He wants to cover:
- 15 million Illegal Aliens.
- Millions of citizens who are in between jobs and temporarily without healthcare.
- Millions of employed young people who are healthy and would rather have a new car or house, rather than pay for healthcare they think they don't need.
- For the remaining millions of legitimately poor who don't have healthcare, I am willing to chip in and pay for their healthcare.
JUST LEAVE MY HEALTHCARE AND ALL OTHER AMERICAN'S HEALTHCARE ALONE
