After a 9-month long budgeting process, the school board passed its ’09-’10 School Year budget on Wednesday, June 24th. The school district took demands for class size reduction and essential programs into account in exchange for cutting pay to and/or eliminating several district employees.
While the media has asked and answered the who, what, where, when, and why of the sad situation, the question they’ve neglected to pose has newsrooms worldwide conveniently oblivious to the elephant in the corner.
A full-fledged summer is upon us but the season that brings so much pleasure to us could bring nothing more than sheer agony to your dog. When your dog sees you suiting-up for the beach all he’s thinking is, “Oh, no! It’s allergy season!”

Think twice before you light that sparkler after the family barbeque because if not in the cities of Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Garden Grove, Santa Ana or Stanton, it could land you a night in jail. And if you are in firework territory, light with caution because the 1,000°F sparkly fun could rack up a pricey hospital bill.
The June 22nd Capistrano Unified School Board meeting once again brought many passionate constitutents out to speak their minds but ended with no budget passed. The school board has been working since September on the budget, which is necessary for the district to operate and obtain state funding
Fast food has it all. It’s easy, it’s cheap and it’s plentiful in taste and…calories. Many of the not-so gourmet goods have everything but nutrition. So the question is: would you rather save a few bucks or a few pounds?
